I don't think it's a plinth is it? To me, it looks more like an open topped box that the plinth sits in. No doubt, however, like most things hi-fi there will be a wonderful USP for this particular open topped wooden box that makes it convey incredible properties to the sound produced by the turntable.If they put a wooden plinth on a modded Techy, it effectively becomes a Monarch (only much cheaper)!
