No worries. Are you thinking of treating yourself to one?
Well, as you may remember, quite some time ago, I was interested in trying out one or two cables for my Zeta - someone (ahem.....I can't remember his name) offered me first dibs on one, but forgot!
Anyway, I never did anything about it but I'm thinking that perhaps I might try something else sometime soon.

Ah, I see, nice one. I reckon that the highest 'sound-per-pound' option would either be a stock 428 or 423.5 Phono Litz cable, fitted with one of these:

    http://www.partsconnexion.com/cardas-53481.html

    And a pair of these:

    http://markgrantcables.co.uk/shop/in...roducts_id=221

The Cardas DIN plug is high-quality, and the shell is made of a lighter 'plastic' construction, than the all-metal '1877' DIN plug, supplied as standard: http://www.partsconnexion.com/1877PH-73647.html

You want to mimimise on metal used, where possible, for reasons discussed earlier.

The Neutrik RCAs have advantages, in terms of their electrical contact method, and lack of metal used, in comparison with the LOK RCAs, fitted as standard on both the 428 and 423.5 Phono Litz, shown here: http://www.homegrownaudio.com/produc...ck-barrel.html

If you buy the plugs and send them to Yannis (or pay him in advance and ask him to buy them for you) he'll fit them to the tonearm cable of your choice.

    Hope this helps, mate

    Marco.

OK thanks for that, I'll be looking around for something shortly & if I find something I like, I'll probably be buying another one for the Ultracraft or two, if I can find a way of getting into the Decca!

TQ refused! They claim they chose the current connector for a number of reasons including that it works with their cable and the processes they use.

Guess I'll have to get my soldering iron and silver solder out.

I promise to keep you posted Martin. Things are a bit slow on the Goldring project for now though. I'm hoping to get it going in a couple of weeks or so.

Mmm... Sounds like a bit of a cop-out to me! Never mind, if you can manage it yourself, I think the sonic rewards of doing so successfully would be worth it.

If you don't fancy it yourself, why not give the job to David Brook or Mark Grant - should be a piece of piss for them!
