This is my spare room system, now that The Apprentice is back on BBC I will spending more time in this room!

Deck - Technics SL1210mk2 - Ortofon DJ Pro S cart & Stylus.
A few battle scars.
Not modded - apart from two slip mats placed under the stock rubber mat.
Cleaned up the internals a little is all.



Next is the Amp, it's a Kenwood Trio KA-3750, which was recently purchased from fellow AoS member "The Black Adder".

It's a cracking little amp, full of punch and the perfect sound I am looking for! A Japanese amp with a Japanese deck, great match!



Good friend and again fellow AoS member RichB donated these speakers, Celestion DL4 Series 2. I love them, still kicking it from the 80s.

For electronic sounds I've connected my Dell XPS 420 PC, which has a Creative Soundblaster X-FI soundcard, I use no FX on it, just "dry".

No point in including a picture of the PC, as hey it's a PC.

QED Performance 3.5mm to RCA from the PC
No brand 3.5mm to RCA from Tape REC to Soundcard (Recording Via Sony Sound Forge)
Speaker Cable is Rega FSC Quattro.

I've got to say the amp is little piece of magic, lots of warmth and presence in it, both with MP3 & FLAC. The phono stage on it is pretty decent too. But I think it's little secret is the headphone amp in it! I've got a standard pair of Sennheiser HD457 which I used for the iPod, these come to life with it, however I upgrade to a nice pair of Panasonic RP-HTX7 (red).

I've altered the Panasonic bass response using the old cellotape over 2 of each ear's air ports. Tightened the bass up somewhat.

Also note the good old "British" engineering sound isolation solution of two programming books, some polystyrene covered in bubbleWrap. It's actually works as well.

Smashing to see them Celestions doing good service...

Story behind them was i bought a Marantz CD player, Nad amp and technics tape player all off a bloke on fleabay and he just threw the speakers in so they were freebies... I tried them with a few amps and they were great but ultimately too big for my kitchen system as i had all other others sorted.

Looks like the huffy room is properly coming together!

All looking groovy matey... Nice to see the little KA-3750 being used and enjoyed.

The DL4's are superb little speakers and a great match with the Trio. My DL-10's sounded superb with the Trio too.

This system made me smile it reminds a little of the one I've just put together for my mate! I also love your English no nonsense approach to speaker dampening! You might want to slighty rise the right speaker however as it looks a little low compared to the left, maybe another layer of bubblewrap

Hi Graeme, that is a very nice set up you have there.. Try and keep that technics as original as possible IMHO, looks very tidy to me.
