There's quite a few Mini-T fanboyz here at AOS now. I'm using one in my 2nd system with some nice Usher standmounts - it sounds terrific!

Looks like I'm going to have to shut me mouth and give one a try as well in the office setup, since I play at whisper quiet levels up there and don't want to wear out the GEC KT66's on such duties..

A question, since I believe this has been done on pro circles.. What about a Maxi-T Amp? Could these devices be used to build something a little more powerful, to sell at under £200? I know there are pro amps out there, but since you cannot really try before you buy, you may end up with a horrible sounding "HiFi" amp that is only really suited for disco use...

I am surprised that people are so late to the 2020 party

I had an Autocostruire 2020 board about 5 or 6 years ago. Nice, but not as good IMO as the 2050 (variously described as a 100w or 50w amp) However, it has the grunt that IMO the 2020 and 2024 chips don't.

Of course it depends totally on the speakers you partner them with, a 2020 is brill with my 100db efficiency speakers.

But lousy with hard to drive speakers. Seriously lousy.

I don't know why but some folks seem to think that a 6W per channel amp (low distortion into 8 ohms) can drive all sorts. I've seen wars over this on forums. It's simply about matching amps to speakers. Nothing new in that.

Nice one chris and welcome to AoS. I run a Mini-T amp on my computer system with a pair of venerable Videotone Minimax 2 speakers. Sounds excellent!
