Default For Sale: Russ Collinson Solid Birch plywood plinth for Garrard 401 TT

Last but not least the plinth. This was specially made to me by Russ Collinson. It is made of high quality Finnish Birch plywood and is really solidly built. It weighs 19kg, so if you Garrard is working as it should, this plinth will be quiet for sure.

Unfortunately there is some hairline crackling starting to appear on the high gloss piano finish Russ applied. It hasn't bothered me, but I will sell this as an project, so you would need to sand the varnish down and apply new coats to bring it back how it was. If you do this you can easily change the color to suit your taste, or should I say the wife's taste, at the same time . Another thing to mention is that you will need new tonearm plate, if not using Jelco SA-750LB. I am sure Russ is happy do one for you if this is required.

To see how it looked when Russ made it to me, go to see Russ Collinson home page:

    http://www.layers-of-beauty.co.uk/page7.php

Click plinths and my is the one in the left bottom corner (plinth012)

I have taken the pictures with Jelco tonearm in-situ, but tonearm is not included on the sale, it is sold separately.

    Yours for £250 plus postage.

I sold my 12" Jelco tonearm this week, so time to reduce the price to £200 plus shipping.

Why haven't you bought it Alex?

I've seen the Lenco and Thorens plinths Russ makes - lovely
I can't go on and I can't go back, I don't feel so matter of fact,
I tried and tried to make good sense, What's the good to try it all again?

Quite agree - I've seen a couple in the flesh too, including Gromit's 401 at Scalford last year, and Russ's workmanship is indeed a really high standard.

Alex if you are interested in on this plinth, you have only few weeks to hit the BIN button . I am in the process of packing all our earthly belongings as we speak and will move back to the land of thousands of lakes. Just booked the ferry from Iom to Heysham today .
