Default Rare Classical and Light Music - Free FLACS

For a while now I've frequented the blogs run by a guy called Frank. Called The Music Parlour, it has other offshoots for Historical and Popular (Light) music.

Basically, the source material is LPs that haven't made it to CD, or have but are now deleted. I've got some great music from here, from vintage Decca and Mercury issues, some Melodyia discs and, recently a couple of Decca Phase4 rips of latin/band music (which are really good listens in a kitcsh sort of way ).

Normally there's a choice of FLAC or WAV download, and the quality is pretty good, though obviously dependent on the source material.

Also on the site are some radio broadcasts. For example there's the first performance of Vaughan Williams 9th Symphony (Malcolm Sargent/RPO) and a Russian disc made right after the first performance of Shostakovitch's 11th Symphony (Natan Raklin - USSR Symphony Orchestra).

At the moment I'm listening to Edmundo Ros in Phase4 ping-pong stereo - which is great fun and worth trying even if the music fails to appeal. This was a Phase4 issue employing their new 20-channel mixing desk - talk about boys with toys!
