    No idea, matey.
Perhaps, once all the excitement had ended & everyone got back into the Cathedral, the time would be getting on - don't know if there's some sort of curfew or licence involved with a prescriptive clause on time of the end of the performance or something.

Or a bunch of jobsworths got off on a power-trip and decided to balls-up everyone's evening.

Maybe so - either way it made the whole event a bit of a wet fart in the end - a shame to have to drive an hour each way for and pay £12 for parking for all that!

A couple of months ago saw the Bill Frisell Quartet about 10 minutes from my house but, damn, if I didn't miss Tommy Emmanuel a couple weeks later. Rice University hosts concerts by music students seasonally and I'm hoping to attend one or more. You can stream those concerts and hear music from the most diverse library that I know of in existence at KTRU-FM.

Default The First Record You ever Bought

I can't believe we've not had this before - but I've had a good search, and can't find anything, so here we go.

[EDIT] - Must learn to search better! Threads now merged:

Simple question - what was the first record you bought? And if you like, a few words about it. Inspired by deciding to play the first record I ever bought, and realising I have now been buying records for 30 years! (Note, I'm only counting the first record I physically bought and chose myself - I'm pretty sure there are the odd Pinky & Perky and Wombles albums lurking somewhere, but those would have been bought for me...)

    Toyah - Anthem 1981 (Vinyl)

    http://open.spotify.com/album/2kK8ebglCHDKVaHNnTa1Js

I'm not really sure what got me into Toyah as a 12 year old - my best mate was heavily into Blondie, which I really liked too, but I guess I wanted to be a little different. I think I Want to be Free would have been the first of their singles I heard, probably on TOTP, and I thought the cover was fab, so that may have been an influence. Sounds quite dated now, especially some of the synth sounds, but I still love every minute of it, and takes me back to the school summer holidays 30 years ago.

Mine's a close run thing, as I can't quite remember whether it was 'There I was, digging a hole' by Bernard Cribbens or 'Walk on the Wild Side' by Jimmy Smith. This is an EP and I still have it somewhere..

First LP bought with my own money was this:

I was 16 and had just got a Saturday job - I never had enough money to buy records until then, they were a real luxury item. It was TDK cassette tapes for me! Anyway I recall it cost £4.50 - Four and a half hours wages!

Still have it - still play it
    Current Lash Up:

    TEAC VRDS 701T > Sony TAE1000ESD > Krell KSA50S > Troels Gravesen Faital 3WC-15.
