Let's see first what the "evil crapola" was Jerry was referring to. I'm a little concerned that it appeared directly after what I felt was a perfectly polite and considered response.

I do agree, hence why I said what I did. However, he's entitled to his opinion, however much you may disagree with it.

Having said that though, this is starting to get a little out of control, and become more about current personalities here and airing old grudges, as opposed to the subject that should be under discussion, therefore I'm afraid that I will have to ask that we now get back on-topic, otherwise any further remarks like that will be deleted from this post onwards.

What I was referring to was your overuse of exclamation marks (count how many were used in your main post earlier I was referring to), which made it look like you were shouting and losing your rag, and that what you were writing was more of a rant, than you calmly, but robustly, expressing your legitimate opinion.

Therefore, you may wish to use less exclamation marks when making your point in future!!!!!!!!!!!! (note the deliberate overuse of those bad boys)

And let's not forget that this is the chap too who, completely unprovoked, recently referred to AoS members as "halfwits" - hilarious as it was at the time!

Sodders is a very intelligent character, very well read & has written some of the most eloquent & some of the most disturbing posts I've ever read! (note 1 exclamation mark). Again he's a very nice guy in real life, still strongly opinionated though. I think he will make a great Mod, in the spirit of the Wam, but his vocabulary I suspect will be very colourful.

EDIT: Seems I jumped the gun & Sodders is not doing a moderating role, still, I think in a way he would be very good! IMO.

Are you married, Alfie, or do you have a female partner? If so, I'd be curious to know her views on the justifiable use of the word 'cunt' in everyday dialogue.....

No, I'm not married, as an atheist I don't believe in marriage. I do though share my life with a very special & beautiful lady called Sally. I have 3 children from a previous relationship & am also step father to Sallys 2 children. Sally works very hard & has worked her way to the top of her chosen profession & now manages several large concerns. We both do not swear around the younger children. I thought I'd ask her her thoughts on the matter & she asked to read some of the thread. Her reply is you're a bunch of "sanctimonious, self righteous cunts" so that's your answer there! She also asked me if any of you had heard of the feminist 'cunt art' movement & suggested you read these sites & others similar

Yes indeed, but here's the million Dollar question.........

Why can't the Wam forum have the same ethos and vibe as does the Scalford Hall 'Pie Show', where everyone, no matter their views on hi-fi, is welcomed with open arms and meets up and has a good time, in the true spirit of camaraderie, without hardly a bad word being exchanged??

Why is the vibe on the forum so very different, certainly at least to those who don't share the natives desire to indulge in pubescent and offensive, sorry, 'humorous', behaviour?

I'd like you to give some serious consideration to the glaring dichotomy that exists, as I've outlined above - why that is so, and most importantly, what can be done about it.

I am genuinely interested in helping Wigwam become a friendlier place, as I do think that it has something important, and clearly popular, to offer to the UK audio community

I suggest that most Wammers are normal polite human beings that know how to behave publicly! As seen at Scalford or at bake-offs, but some choose to use profanity in the guidelines of the forum in question! where they feel safe & happy to do so. It is simply their choice & it does not change the people they are in my eye's. They are only words & words to be used! Just perhaps they are entitled to TOLERANCE AND RESPECT too, in that some tolerance should be shown to the language they choose to use & respect of their choice to use it.

I don't believe anything needs to be done about it! It is the choice of the forum AUP & the membership. I suspect the new AUP & mods will try harder to keep the swearing in the Pubilic bar, car park & members area, but we will have to wait & see.

The wam already is a friendly place it just has a different outlook & way of running than AoS or different again PFM. The Wam as far as I can tell doesn't want to be another HiFi forum, It wants to be the Wam & i'm not sure you can change it to use your personal set of morals. I think alot of its attraction is the freedom of speech & the way it's run, that isn't for everybody but then again it's not a democracy is it!

Has as been mentioned through this thread each forum has a different appeal & that's a good thing IMO, people simply choose where they spend their time! No wrongs & no rights just personal choice!

Everything I wrote is the truth, factual and provable and was in answer to the specific question asked. I know nothing about this years show as I didn't attend, but from all accounts it was a great success. So what, what has that got to do with me, I simply answered a specific question.

Just to add the scalford show is one of the highlights of the year for me.

I don't care if members are from wigwam aos pfm av forum crossdressers weekly.
It's about meeting fellow hi fi and music lovers.

It's nice to see different forums meeting in the same place.
