Squeezebox Touch Powersupply

Not sure how that Maplins PSU will be with the Dac, but I swapped it over for the stock SB Touch supply and found it better.
Its what I use now on my Touch.

I have that one of these too, I bought it for a T-Class amp, it's still a switched mode one however @ 60W, more than necessary for the SBs and Beresford. Currently I'm using it on my SB3 which requires the same as the touch, I'm waiting for the new 5v capable VN10L to filter it's way into the shops too.

I prefer the VN10L on my Squeezebox receivers (9V), and Beresford (12V), @ 20W linear, which is more than enough for them.

Either would be an improvement IMHO, but the VN10L ticks more boxes for me, and it's cheaper

No doubt, but I happened to have the supply around the house unused, thought I'd just try it anyway to see if it made any difference.
Its better than the stock PSU.

It lets me use a "foo" mains lead (Krystal Kables Titan:v.good) with my squeezebox...but thats a different story

A linear supply is still on the cards for my Touch, but not in any rush to replace what I have already.

On my SB3 yes, because the new 5v capable linear VN10L is not in the shops yet...when it is available I will use it on my SB3!

This is the pcb. It's sold as a dual (+/-) board but it can be modded with a wired link to run a single supply full wave.

what you end up with is comparable to a commercial psu, without the development costs, labour and marketing!

The AC will go into AC1 and AC2 (no transformer connection to the 0v in the pic). Connect the GND to the DC negative rail together and only use the space for 2 caps in the positive rail. Take you DC output from + and gnd.

Can anyone confirm what the standard DC voltage is for the Touch please? Poss even a photo of the PSU label?

It is 5 volts. Positive to the centre pin of the plug.
