Well I am a sucker for sunsets (and sunrises when I'm around for them ) so I hope you don't mind me sharing these with you ... They were taken on a tour of Peru last summer which was a 6 week journey with just me and my 18 yr old son .. our last big venture together before he moves away to college and into his own life ..
Sunset over Lake Titicaca from Amantini island ..
Sunset over Titicaca from the summit of Amantini Island ..
And ... not quite a sunset ... but a sunflower ...... over Titicaca ..

Obviously this doesn't need a lot of explaining We were married on the beach in St Lucia last May. It was supposed to be two weeks earlier but there was a little unexpected dust in the air and everything was cancelled on the day we were flying. Try arranging a wedding abroad in two weeks - no pressure!

A plastic box, some glass bottles, two metal tins and some lengths of string
Great - just what I was after, Brian!
Steve, Valerie - great pics too, I remember the problems you had at the time - adds to the memories though!

Cheers Alex!
to be honest, im not so worried about anything much now ... we are half way through, we have had a few worries, but everything seems to be going well! because of hannahs health we have had a consultant lead pregnancy which has meant they have been looking after us very well! 24 weeks gone we have already had 3 scans and have 2 more booked to we are getting plenty of reassurance ... that said as the date gets closer im sure i will get more nervous! its the little things, and the practical implications i cant get my head round ... and the money worries ... but im sure we will be fine! The actual living baby bit i cant wait for!

Nikon too ... Nikon of been a company since 1881 although back then they were "Nippon Kogaku K.K" ... they even used to make lenses for canon ... or Kwannon as they were back then ...
I often use older lenes that have a "feel" to the images they produce!
nikon haven't changed their mounting system since 1959 and my DSLR is completely functional with lenses dating back to 1977 ... 1959 with minor modification http://www.realphotographersforum.co...on-some-DSLR-s ... that lens being one of my favourite for producing a softer lower contrast image!
the lens i used for the photos i posted is a 50mm 1.2 ais ... perhaps considered slightly less "vintage" being designed in 1981 and in fact mine was made in 2002 so really i suppose its not vintage at all...
more info here
http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography...kor/index6.htm
... but even though they still make them to this day it is still the same 1981 design and being as it is a 1.2 lens from that era, it does "suffer" from some of what are widely considered disadvantages of such designs. for eg, it is not the sharpest lens out there, even many much cheaper 50mm 1.8 lenses will top it in terms of sharpness! It also can be very low in contrast, especially when used "wide open" at 1.2!
so combine low contrast and sharpness with wide open shooting and you get a very recognisable "feel" to the image that when used in certain circumstances produces what i suppose you could describe as "dreamy" images like the ones i have taken!
my most vintage lens is one of these from 1936 ...
