Here you go the teddy PS is the one on the right the other transformer on the left is for another power supply that I got built by some else to power the upgraded clock in my SB3. Some of the caps on the TPS have been upgraded to better ones which includes the bigger cap.Originally Posted by anubisgrau

However, this comment on the price is rather unnecessary!We've all spent a lot of money on our systems here, it's just a question of what that money gets you, and for the £200 you've spent on a linear PSU for your touch, I've got 3 for my SB players, 2 more for my T-Amps, and have change left over for a Beresford DAC...Oh and a trip round t' world on't QE2
I have absolutely no experience with Maplin's PSU and neither have I criticized it in any way, or offered any opinions on it at all, the only comment I offered was when you wrote:

Given that my criticism was based solely on price, how on earth can a comment about it's price be deemed unnecessary, I would have thought the word to use might be 'relevant', or even 'necessary' if you prefer.
I'm not quite sure which bit of the comment caused a problem for you...

Reviving this thread to ask about another Maplins PSU as a potential replacement for the 5V 3amp one supplied with the Touch.

Can set it to run 5V DC at 5 amps and its a regulated supply, so should mean voltage pretty stable and is as stated?
Just curious to try it, as its sitting in a box doing nothing. It will also let me use my foo mains lead with my Touch, which may or may not make a difference
(Actually, the mains lead made an good improvement with my old amp, so suspect it wouldn't do any harm)
The Touch runs 5V and the supplied PSU is rated at 3 amps I think.
I'm assuming the Touch would only draw what it needs amp wise...no problem with the Maplins supply being 5amps?
Just curious if it will physically work and not blow up my Touch!
The numbers seem ok?
Just curious to try it, not expecting much.

Hi Gaz I'm using one of those on an SB3 quite successfully, at 5V, and no smoke has eminated from it yet
However this linear one is even better IMHO, if it ever filters through to the shops...

...I've got 3 of it's predecessor, which didn't do 5V (the closest was 4.5), but does the 9V requires for my SB receivers, and 12V for my TC-7510.
Check with the shop first as there seem to be a lot of the older spec out there in the stores, with the same model number
