I really couldn't tell you right now I have just spent the last hour setting the crossover frequencies on both xovers, talk about bloody fiddly to get it precise What's needed is some fine tuning control, but as it is both are now within 0.5% of exactly where i want the frequencies to be

110Hz bass to lower mid.
500Hz lower mid to upper mid.
5KHz (original NS1000M is 6KHz) upper mid to high. I figure with a much steeper slope i can lower that one a tad, i won't go any lower though as it'd be entering the most sensitive part of our hearing.

Next is connect the power amps for the stereo channels & set the outputs correctly I might be listening to it this evening

LOL - the trouble is, with each emerging new standard it becomes more difficult to achieve a truly universal player. I have an SACD/DVD-A/DVD-V player with no video circuits, and a Blu-ray player with no SACD playback capability. Guess I'll stick with two

Not a chance in hell Just realised i need to swap a couple of phono connectors for XLRs & then of course disconnect a shed load of wiring & amplifiers & then connect up the new amps...

I have spent all day at it & finally I have an active sound system

No really comments from me yet as sooooo many cables are running in as well as a 3KW amplifier

Wow - that was a marathon.

Had everything out of my rack today. Cleaned all the contacts, added a few ferrite clamps around some mains cables, tidied up the cable routing and replaced the mains cable on my turntable. Took nearly an hour

Just settled down after finally connecting up the Paradigm DSP-3400 subwoofer Still not tidied up yet, i'll do that tomorrow Once i do i'll get some nice pics of the room & setup on here...


The rave has begun Actually i think i'll stick a load of vocal stuff on as i need to make sure everything is set correctly.

All is going very well indeed, thanks Nathan This is going to take some getting used to, that oldie about hearing new stuff is raising it's ugly head every few seconds. Everything is lightning fast now with no passive crossover storing power & smearing stuff, this is highly addictive

Just for a giggle i'll take a few pictures of the big piles of cables i have removed from the old system, you'll get a much better idea of why this took so long I reckon there is half a wheelie bin full, maybe a bit more

I'm not 100% finished yet though, i have the stereo side sorted but a few more bits to go in the rack, a power amp to drive the surround speakers, one to power the centre channel....

I'll get there in the end

Nice one, Mark. If you leave it all running overnight and deselect the speakers, you can burn-in all the cables except the speaker cables.

Good point Martin I might just do that, it's not just cables though, the Behringer crossovers are also new The Mackie M3000 power amp is as well but that would need to be switched off.

I guess the ARC MP1 might need some to as all inputs can be selected to either single ended or balanced, i'm using the balanced CD input & it was on SE previously

Things are begining to get very interesting indeed with only about 3 hours on the completed system...

I'll have to attempt to program the DT10 as i have never done this before, if i'm sucsessful i'll leave it spinning overnight

Good stuff Mark. I can relate to the active thing, that's what I'm doing at the moment. There's definately something to be said for it.
