Hello all, I've been into music since buying my first singles in 1974! Nowdays I'm pleased that I didnt sell any records from my early days of collecting, just stored the them and the turntable in the attic and got into collecting cds. For last 5 years or so I've been back into lps so the Thorens TD166mk5 came back down and heavily pimped - sounding great through my Krell KAV 500i and Dynaudio Contour 1.8s via a Tisbury phono preamp , and I'm back buying records. I very recently brought a Trans Fi with a Terminator arm, quite a steep learning curve on set up methods...I spent years playing in band and have also done loads of recordings over the years of jazz, folk and other sorts. Listening - really all sorts from the early jazz, right through to the 60s 70s rock and folk - and all styles between and beyond. CD player is an Elecrocompaniet tank. Due to high volume for years I lost some of my hearing.... I thought my critical listening days were over.... but actually, now fitted with Widex hearing aids (same as a Steve Lukather) I realised that its actually got better...anyway, looking forward to see what happens now!

Great introduction.

You have similar musical tastes to the great majority of Members here. I envy your ability to play in a band: the only thing I can play is my hi-fi!
Talking of which, you have some fine audio equipment to play your music on.

Don't be scared Simon, most of us don't really bite! Great intro, and welcome to AoS, and Andrew's sentiments are correct, it's nice to see new members so hopefully you will enjoy it here.

Glad to hear (pun intended!) that the hearing aids are working out for you - I must get my lugs tested... I think there have been a lot of technological advances in that area.

Anyway, nice system, and well done for not getting rid of your records (I didn't either, so glad I kept them) I must admit I stream almost exclusively these days, either from FLAC files of my CDs or the usual streaming services which is so convenient and sounds great but sometimes there's nothing like just putting a proper record on.

And yes, we do love a picture, so if you get a chance sometime we'd love to see your system. Enjoy the forum.

Welcome Simon from the city of "dreaming spires" so a poet once said. What sort iof music do you listen to and what style was your band and which part did you play? (no pun intended)
