Still curious to know Justin's definition of it.

I don't think I have the energy to write a long list of blatantly Italian recipes, dude.

I think it originated from farmers growing food that tastes like shit until it is cooked. Seriously, I'd have to say it comes from when I was a kid. My mother had very simple tastes, and cooked accordingly. She could not even be in the same room as an onion or clove of garlic.

I got a bit better since I left home, one of my brothers completely got over it (a few years living in Belgium might have helped). These days he'll eat any old crap. My youngest brother is even worse than me.

Ah, so old habits die hard, eh?

My mum was quite different in that respect, which explains the way I am with food - and then I married Del!

Ugh! Arborio rice; little better than eating a rice pudding with some interesting mushrooms.

Anyway, here's what we had for dinner tonight:

    Sushi to start

Clockwise from top left: salmon and soft cheese caliroll; teriyaki and green pepper caliroll; carrot and ginger hosomaki, and green pepper hosimaki.

Eaten using Japanese chopsticks (of course!). Followed by

Some more chicken tikka masala, long grain rice and vegetables.

    For dessert strawberries and mango.

And Japanese Asahi lager to drink:
