    Agreed. A very good album could be made from 'covers better than the originals', I reckon there could be enough to make a box set. Suggestions? I'll put forward Walk on By, by Stranglers, and All Along the Watchtower by Jimi

    At the risk of getting battered by some forum members, I'd say it happens a lot with Bob Dylan songs - besides the two previously mentioned, I would add Mr Tambourine Man and A Hard Rains a-Gonna Fall

    I did not know that. I was thinking of The Byrds.

    Maybe I'm doing Mr Dylan a disservice - I'm not saying his original versions are bad, just that so many artists choosing to do covers of his songs must be testament to the quality of his songwriting, and their versions become the ones Joe Public becomes familiar with.
