Janelle Monáe - The Archandroid (2010)
Despite the French name, absolutely nothing like Melody Gardot or Madeleine Peyroux, and doubtful to anyone else’s taste, but I loved this album when it was released but not heard it for a long time.

They're very good. I would suggest starting with Sarsippius' Ark, although the first 3 are all decent.

I went with the debut, enjoyed it, will definitely explore some more. Surprised I had never heard/heard of them before!
