I don't have any in my collection below 43% (Lagavulin) which gets away with it by having bags of flavour - the rest are 46 and above and I have quite a few cask strength. I like a good Bunna too. I was going to stay at their cottages on a tour with my best mate, but the bastard decided to go and die on me

Not sure if they still do that, as I looked at the website and couldn't see anything. I think their 12 year old is fantastic for the money.

Lagavulin 16 is nice, but I find the Caol Ila 18 nicer.
There are some very good Ardbegs, but the nicer ones tend to get silly expensive.
Laphroaig is not my favourite.
I have had some nice Bowmore as well, with the nicest I bought being a 23.
My favourite I have had was a Gordon and MacPhail Caol Ila single cask bottling, at cask strength. I could not find another, and the range has now been discontinued.

I recently bought a 55% Bunna, from the Indi bottler Uncharted Whisky, a lovely dram and only 7 year olds but tasted older.

I prefer the 8 year old Lagavuilin to the 16 year old , mainly due to higher cost of the 16 although it has dropped recently.

I agree I probably prefer Caol Ila to Laphroiaig as well , I have tasted a few Bowmore’s which I have enjoyed but some of their pricing is outrageous, although there are none in the collection at the moment.
I managed to show great restraint last week when the Springbanks were released, and didn’t buy any although the 30 year old at 1K was tempting, yeah right.

I think Laphroaig is a bit of a "Marmite" choice for many. Some of the whisk(e)ys mentioned here are unknown to me, but it's always good to read of other Members' choices.

I've never tried the 8 YO Lagavulin Robin . . . . but Master of Malt will soon be rectifying that for me - together with a Bunna 12 and an Uigeadail. They have Bunna 12 for £36.39 at the moment, bloody bargain!

I see there is a bottle for sale at £300. Too much for me to be comfortable spending that on a bottle.

When I visited Dublin a few years ago, I had a guided tour of the Bushmills distillery. Tasted a few drams there, but didn’t buy any as a souvenir.
