'Relax' did in fact reach number 1, but I can't remember what the BBC did about it. 'Two Tribes' was another good track.

Depeche Mode - Playing the Angel (2005)

Pretty much anything DM release I am all over it, but there are a few of the albums I’ve not been mad on - this must be one of them, ‘cos I can’t remember the last time I played it, and apart from a couple of tracks a lot of it is unfamiliar. It’s not bad, but it’s no Violator, although I think that’s what they were trying to do here.

Carla dal Forno - Confession (2026)

I have played this several times now, and am really liking it, strangely for an album by a female Australian singer-songwriter it does remind me of Depeche Mode and also OMD in places in the instrumentation. Some of the songs are a bit repetitive, but overall a solid album and definitely in my top 10 of the year so far. I can’t imagine it will be anyone else’s cup of char in here, though!

Thanks to Mike for bringing the LP to my/our attention. I immediately bought a copy from eBay, and it arrived today. In near mint condition , it is the best £6's worth I have had in a long time.

    Thanks again Mike.
You did well there Barry - I had a look on Ebay, and even ropey examples were going for a lot more than that.

Didn’t spot this last night that you joined in with 1984! Fabulous album, crap (but somehow compelling) film!

Was going to play Erika Badu as Steve & Barry reminded me of her (still might) but hit on another Erika first. (Not “hit on her” as in “hi Erika, do you like baked beans and Kendal Mint Cake?” - you know what I mean! )

Erika de Casier - Lifetime (2025)

Described on Tidal as “a sensual mix of pop and R&B” but it’s more than that. One Bandcamp comment is much more accurate - “Erika’s voice purrs and prowls about the mind, slicing through the haze of dreamy downtempo beats and lush, brooding chords.” Nice.

Yes, Trevor Horn has done some amazing stuff in his time. In fact this one is at the top of my 'wants' list (Father's Day coming up!) With this tracklisting and artists involved, how could I not?
