It's true. I suspect we've all considered getting one at some point even if it's just going to be decoration.
Nothing says you're taking this hobby seriously like a reel to reel machine on the shelf.

I would say that looks 'brutish' rather than 'cool'. However it's much better looking than my Levinson ML-2 monoblock amplifiers, which are probably the ugliest things going.
