When it comes to colourful language, I like to think 'less is more'... not sure what she has against Norman Rockwell, all I know about him is his Santa Claus picture appearing on my Corn Flakes box each Christmas.

I agree, I don't know what she has against Norman Rockwell, save perhaps for his rather twee and sentimental depiction of life in the US in the 20th century. Or maybe she doesn't like Kellogg's cornflakes.

Clearly not everyone agrees with her view of Norman. This one ("Tired salesgirl on Christmas Eve") went to auction at Sotheby's last year with a guide price of 5-7 million USD.

No idea what it sold for, I'd have to register with them, and I don't want to be on their mailing list.

According to this https://www.thesufferingartist.com/p...-christmas-eve it only made a paltry $4.3M. Looks like we missed a bargain. If only we had been registered.

Wouldn't have made any difference to me, the winning bidder had gone past my maximum. I only had £6.50 and a couple of pre-decimal coins in my socks drawer. How much would you have gone to?

The winning bidder probably got his hand down the side of his settee and found the extra he needed. Of course if you couldn't be bothered to do that's your loss.

I always thought Norman Rockwell was the American version of Frank Sidebottom so this has been an education at least.
