    Current digital lash up...

    Temporary loaner from a friend,
power supply in my Holo May popped and is packed up for collection Monday for return to Elise Audio for test/repair under warranty.

Would cost me £342 to ship it fully insured back to them in London, told them, they said no way we'll arrange to collect it.
    Really Outstanding Customer Service.

Probably going back to China to be pulled apart (as failures are unheard of) so will see how we get on. Have it to look forward to again ☺️

The SMSL SU-1 and Douk USB ddc are a lot of fun, very mature transparent digital sound, hits way above what you'd expect at the price.

Still have my music which is the main thing.

You have not had it long, and if it needs to go back for investigation you could be without it for months.
Is there no chance of a replacement unit?

    I know Kev,
    but these things can happen.

Think if that length of time I’d think they would hopefully give me a new unit yeah.
Looked after me really well, great guys to deal with.

    Good aftersales support is good.

On the flip side, my Sony preamp/DAC is just entering its 37th year of flawless operation.

lol. It's got great build quality not BPC.

Was only £350 so could always get another I suppose. Of course something packing in is always a good excuse to try something new.

Any progress on the speaker search?

I'd say if the shortlist is under 20 options you're probably missing some you should try. Lots of really good speakers out there now if you have significant amount of money to spend (or will have).

If you've not been to a show for a while that would maybe be worth doing. Not a perfect environment for serious demos but gives you an idea. If it's crap at the show it probably is crap - and the opposite.

The 'traditional' old UK favourite suspects are mostly off the pace now I think.
