Mick got his ESLs going later in the evening, using Macca's Sony pre and Mick's own Radford something-or-other (sorry, don't know the model name, but it was 50-odd years old). Clarity and purity of sound are words that come to mind, and I was surprised to hear that it wasn't found wanting in the bass department. Just a lovely and realistic performance that you could listen to all day without fatigue. Makes me wonder just how far things have really moved along in the last half century, probably 10% genuine advances and 90% clever marketing! Just my two pennies worth
