Maybe some of you know this one but it's passed me by. Made between '89 and '95, sort of a more elegant, less pro-looking Technics SLP1200.

Fisher 'Professional Digital Reference Series' - from about 1992
From about 1975 Fisher was the 'Lexus Brand' of Sanyo, although some bargain basement plastic tat was produced with the Fisher badge mostly it was decent build quality.
Fisher's Professional Digital Reference Series consisted of seven audio and video products. The receiver incorporates Class A-2 amplifier circuitry. Power output 150 watts per channel into 8 ohms.

No the bass drivers aren't on the wrong way round. I've no idea what the deal is with that, though.

The Fisher valve gear of the late '60s was well regarded. However the stuff you show doesn't inspire confidence. The appelation "Professional" is meaningless, as is slapping some wood on the sides.

True the 'Professional' tag is just their top of the range 'name'. However the receiver component is tested here and gets a clean bill of health:

I suspect the CD player is also fine. Can't find anything about the tape deck or turntable though. Sanyo were a big player in electronics, still are I think, they could make decent kit when they wanted to.

Or they wanted maximum internal volume for the woofer, not that it would have made much difference IMO.
