Dr. John - 'Dr. John Plays Mac Rebennack'

Label: Classic Records – DAD 1023
    Series: DAD 24/96
    Format: DVD, DVD-Video
    Country: US
    Released: 1998
    Genre: Jazz, Blues
    Style: Louisiana Blues

Picked this up in a charity shop without realising it was a DVD. Only realised when my CD player displayed "No Disc" when I loaded it.
So I had to listen to it via my TV DVD player (a Sony machine) with Quad 520 power amplifier and B&W DM2 speakers.

Sounded pretty good, despite the techno-bollocks of: 96kHz sampling and producing a 24 bit digital word, allowing a dynamic range of 144dB.

I think I'll seek out a 'standard' CD version.

    Brilliant.

I don't know any of the later Dr. John stuff but I do have the first 5 or 6 LP's on original vinyl.
