    It has little meaning, other than saying a recording with a higher number has a greater dynamic range than one with a lower number. But by how much is the dynamic range of something rated as DR10 greater than one rated as DR8?

    It is a qualitative rating, not a quantitative figure - in much the same way as the reception strength bars are on a smartphone.

    Two. Two more dynamic.

    It doesn't matter that it isn't referenced, you just get the one with the higher number, if there's a choice.
