It's in there at number 14 with a DR of seven! So who's right? Can we actually believe these reports?

It's not meaningless as it is internally consistent, but the algorithm it uses is not accurate for vinyl as it delivers an artificially high score. For CD or streaming it's a useful guide to the 'quality' of a master.

It has little meaning, other than saying a recording with a higher number has a greater dynamic range than one with a lower number. But by how much is the dynamic range of something rated as DR10 greater than one rated as DR8?
It is a qualitative rating, not a quantitative figure - in much the same way as the reception strength bars are on a smartphone.

It doesn't matter that it isn't referenced, you just get the one with the higher number, if there's a choice.
