My father's first 'car' was a Land Rover. Not sure of the exact model: it was an early version with big square front wings. Then later, after having driven an Austin A35 (?) and a Mk.1 Cortina, he settled down to drive Jaguar and Daimler cars.

The first was a blue Daimler V8 with wire wheels. It looked great and certainly turned heads. Then there were a series of Jaguars, with his final car a Daimler 'Double Six' with a very thirsty 5.3 litre V12 engine.

If you're talking about the car Simon Templar (aka "The Saint") drove with registration ST 1, it was a white Volvo P1800.

(And I'd love a P1800, too!) I nearly bought one in about 1987, but my dad talked me out of it. He was right, it needed far too much work, but I still wish I had!

Fair enough! I didn’t know there was a second series called 'Return of the Saint', the only one I saw (a few episodes of) was with Roger Moore as the 'Saint'.

The website you cite is certainly well researched. It's amazing the amount of time and effort some people can take over things that interest them - that website is a tour de force!

A working prototype was built and exhibited at the Motor Show in London's Earls Court, where it attracted some interest. Autocar magazine did a write up of it and featured the car on the front cover. My father's had intended to put the car into small-scale production, but ironically 'Type Approval' legislation was introduced, which meant much expense would have to be spent on getting the design passed.
