I was buying some carrots in our local greengrocer and always choose large samples. One that I chose was particularly long (11" or 27.5cm). The lass on the till asked if it might be a contender for the Guinness Book of Records.

I said I would look it up on the Web, but didn't think it would be candidate. Not by a long shot - would you believe the record for the longest carrot is 19 foot?!!!!

My first reaction was to check it wasn't April 1. My second reaction was "do your worst you sabre rattling shitbag, just know you wouldn't survive one day outside Russia's borders".

£12 and does 21 washes. Tesco also have normal size pods packs which do 51 washes (which would be 25 and a half 'big' washes) for the same 12 quid. Even using someone as likeable as Peter Crouch to promote them can't convince me this isn't a load of bollox.

Oh my God what's happening to me? My life is getting smaller by the day, unlike the laundry pods...

Those big pods are supposed to be the equivalent of two 'normal' pods. But then when would you put two of the small pods in your washing machine?

It's just like the BOGOFs; usually the one you get for free will have deteriorated before use.

It's all cynical supermarket policy to get you to spend money unnecessarily.

I've started shopping in Lidl god help me. My extensive survey indicates that they have the cheapest cheese. Even cheaper than the market.

Cheapest bread too as long as you don't mind brown with seeds.

Not tried the Aldi but that's about a three mile round trip.

Anyway, 100 litres corresponds to 133 bottles of wine - and I definitely have room for those!

I don't mind brown bread with seeds at all. And I had Lidl cheese on toast earlier this week, very nice it was too. I also had Lidl's Chicken Kievs (or should that be Kyivs?), and I'll be having them again
