To be precise one really ought to say 'Greek Cyprus'. The island of Cyprus consists of two parts: that part which is ruled by Greece, and the other part ruled by Turkey.

Three parts really as the Sovereign Base Areas are a British Overseas Territory.

There is a buffer zone between the Greek and Turkish parts, patrolled by a UN peacekeeping force. So I suppose they just have to make do with shouting abuse from their upstairs windows. But Roy is free to move between the two, there are no restrictions in that regard.

Hotel maintenance bloke has already told me about the machine gun toting peacekeepers, going to visit Nicosia at some point, maybe compare Greek to Turkish kebabs. Paphos tomorrow.

    Kebab bake-off!

Make sure you have a skinfull first or it will skew the results.

And they should also give the Peacekeepers the night off on a Saturday. Not a proper kebab shop without a fight going on outside.

Ah yes, I had forgotten about the Sovereign Base Area being a British Overseas Territory.
You can visit it, pass through it, but since you can't stay there I don't think of it as a holiday destination.

Whether or not Roy and his partner visit Northern Cyprus, I hope they have a pleasant stay.
