I think you and Loz are pretty much neck and neck when it comes to albums no one's ever heard of. Until now You describe it as ambient, I assume you mean traffic noise and the sound of JCB diggers?

It interested me because the cover shows images of Runcorn 'Shopping City' which I got dragged along to in about 1976, not that long after it opened. It was very futuristic, in a sort of 'Logan's Run' type way, so the memory has stuck with me even though I was only eight at the time.

Also shows some pics of the housing estate that was built next to it, which was demolished a long time ago.

Anyway, great album cover and title, might see if I can get it just for that.

I did exactly the same with Caravan's 'Blind Dog at St.Dunstans', bought simply for the cover, though I always did like Caravan.

Strangely, one of my least favourite Van Halen albums; I don't think that particular album was recorded when the band were totally united and, the sound and vibe of the recording/production isn't that good either. The one thing I did like is the strange dig at Dave Lee Roth contained in the title of the album. That dig was in response to the title of Dave Lee Roth's (superb) Eat Em And Smile so Van Halen basically said "Oh You Ate One Too." Rock star ego's at play!!!

If you compare OU812 album (the second Van Halen album with Sammy Hagar) to the first Van Halen album with Sammy Hagar, (5150) there's no comparison!!!! Consequently, if you compare 5150 (the first Van Halen album with Sammy Hagar) to the first Dave Lee Roth solo album, the superb Eat Em And Smile, then its hard to pick a winner!!!!

Martin, I think I need to tell you (IMHO) the best albums to get (try finding em cheap on CD etc on the Bay or Amazon or even the car boot ) by VH. I'd say start at VH by VH, then VHII, then Women & Children First, then Fair Warning, then Diver Down, then 1984 - all of these are with Dave Lee Roth before he left. Then, we go to the Sammy Hagar era; 5150, then For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge. Those, to me, are the best ones.

There are 4 other albums Balance, VHIII, A Different Kind Of Truth and the live album Right Here Right Now. The first 2 I probably wouldn't bother with but A Different Kind Of Truth is worth a listen but Roths (after reforming with the band) voice isn't the best on this. The Live album Right Here Right Now is OK. Their is a live Video called Live Without A Net with Sammy Hagar and that rocks!!!!!
