Removing as many connections / plugs as possible can only be a good thing. I think Glenn tried this with a few of his amps and found there was a definite sound improvement but he could not sell them with that wiring arrangement - something to do with EU regs I think?

Just for fun whilst drinking a cup of tea I thought I'd create this post. So, here is a picture of all the components that have come out of the signal chain.



And here is one of the external XO boxes that just needs a little TLC, notice no binding posts! I need to resolder the speaker cable onto the XO again and smarten that box up a little. The Tannoy's will need to be remeasured to get exact distance from walls, toe-in distance etc etc and then I can start to have a listen and see how things sound. I still have no super-tweeters installed but it might make for an interesting listening experience to see how the 301 sounds with the new mods to the speakers and then again with the super tweeters installed.

Yes, Barry, that's in the REAL-SOUND system, yet another system I own which from time to times makes a guest appearence in the listening room. It may look "manky" but it actually sounds very nice. Perhaps you should try some and then make a judgement.

I am sure this stuff sounds great if it anything like the Western Electric cable I used to own and in fact I use it still for jumpers on my speaker crossover! Nothing bettered them in this position on my speakers.

No, it's highly directional - hence the stripes the lawnmower makes.
