I doubt it - 45rpm LP records are rarely worth the bother.

I have wondered about that - I have just two 45rpm records (Amy Winehouse Hidden Treasures" and Hugh Masekela "Hope") and they are both excellent, but I've no idea how much of that is to do with being 45rpm.

I have a few 45rpm, and in my opinion 45rpm usually sounds better, that was not the question, I asked if it was worth the money.

45RPM should sound a bit better but there's a dozen other considerations.

Musically I'd say 'On The Border' is their weakest album. Still worth having though.

Is the One Step worth the money Adrian?

Hi Robin, Like everything it depends upon what you want from a musical rendition on your system. I believe that to get the best from any record you need a reasonably decent cartridge and phono stage. Yours should be more than up to getting a good performance from a good record.

I have an early UK 1974 pressing of 'On The Border' which sounds reasonably good, I would grade it VG+, it has a little surface noise on track run in and presumably some is present during the music although not noticeable. This MOFI version I was very lucky to pick up on Amazon for half its normal price, I presume end of stock that they were selling off, from a SQ point of view there is NO background noise at all, separation and detail of instruments is IMO clearer than the original. One comment on Discogs "The high end does sound weird on "Already Gone" but I think it's just the way the recording is combined with their mastering.", I do not agree with this, maybe its the chaps set up, most consider it a superior release, I find it very dynamic and enjoyable, bass is excellent and more defined than my other pressing.

I also have 'Hotel California' and The Long Run' and they are excellent as well. If you are an Eagles fan then they are worth a punt IMO, also they seem to hold their value from a resale point of view.

many thanks Adrian, good to know .I have most of the Eagles albums and would be tempted to purchase the MOFI versions if I see them on offer. I imagine like yourself I like to have the best sounding version of vinyl I own and I would happily pay the same price as they are in the States but by the time they arrive here in the UK some are touching £200.

Will have a look at ordering direct, I have the MOFI of Seven steps to heaven, which I really enjoy
