It's like they say, "Cat's always greener on the other side". Well maybe they don't say that, but they might say "better the cat you know". She does come home sometimes with a whole or part mouse, but obviously it's not enough. We have plenty of neighbour cats call by, but they never stick around for long. Shame really, a couple of them look pretty handy.

Get your cagoules out tomorrow, I'm riding the Fireblade into Preston in the morning for MOT and service, so it will piss down, sure as eggs is eggs.

I saw a thing on TV about a farm where they were over-run with rats. Tried traps, shooting, poison with no joy. They got about 20 semi-feral cats in and that sorted the problem out quick time.

Obviously following that course of action you might end up being known as the crazy cat people down the road. But on the plus side, no more buying expensive fuel leads.

Being a proper crazy cat person is an expensive do. I have a customer in Preston who had me completely encase her back yard in chicken wire so the cats could play out without escaping.

But then I did some work at her daughter's house, replacing a couple of double glazed units that had failed due to the cats pissing against them. That was a smelly job. She'd also had a cat flap built into her conservatory wall - but instead of leading outside, it exited into a chicken wire tunnel that ran the perimeter of her garden and into her garage which housed a comfy sofa and a big flat screen telly.

It does seem that way, but the majority of them are quite normal No idea what they have to say about me though! Still, they keep coming back, so... Of course my most interesting customer has to be Anita, it's how I met her.

She was a divorced mother of three, and a couple of weeks before Christmas burglars broke in and stole all the kiddies' presents. So I went round to secure and repair the doors. She made me a bacon butty, and still does 20 years later

The cat has clearly been stung into action after being threatened with the sack - yesterday I watched through the window as Alice repeatedly chucked a dead mouse in the air before eventually eating it, starting at the arse end and leaving just its head. When I went out to retrieve the head i saw there was another dead mouse a couple of feet away. Then this morning I saw a third dead mouse on the front doorstep.

Her job's safe for now.

I had wondered if she may have been looking over my shoulder as I was typing that post about her being bloody useless, but your explanation seems more plausible. AFAIK she's never learned to read and write.

Bought another bike! Well it's for Anita actually, as her current one is a pile of crap.

Choice was either a Yamaha XV1600 cuiser (bigger engine than some cars), and a much newer XVS950 (which is what she eventually chose). I didn't test ride either of them, I was put off by the thought of riding unfamiliar machines in strong winds and Saturday traffic. So I settled for a short bimble round the car park. I'll give it a proper go next weekend when we take delivery.
