Suspecting (from previous Gallagher-related efforts) that it may be heavily compressed, I reduced the volume substantially before pressing play - And a good job I did!

Is that a CD or an LP? Does it make any difference, as the compression will have been made at the recording or mastering stage.

It's okay - I always admired Squire's playing so bought it for that reason.
I liked the first single that they did together and hoped it would continue in the same vein but, the 2nd single they did recently was crap; shame really as I feel this was a good opportunity missed!!!! I dont know about the album so can't comment............ yet !!
Reminds me a bit of the Seahorses album he did, but better. It's nothing like 'Time Changes Everything' or either of the Roses albums.
Reminds me a bit of Cream on a couple of tunes.
I'll play it again but not blown away by it.

It's a CD in a cardboard gatefold sleeve.
Mastering for the vinyl will be different you can't compress this much on vinyl.
Actually despite the lack of dynamic range the CD was perfectly listenable. Wall of sound - but you have to chalk it up to artist intent and leave it at that.
The vinyl version is made with a new process - a first, allegedly:
