The main post office in Chorley had many counters, and to keep the customers moving along Roger Moore would announce when a position became available ("Cashier number six"), emphasising the number. You could almost hear his single eyebrow raising as he said it.

    That too is now closed.
I just dropped in, to see what condition my condition was in

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Same here too. It's an improvement - you can buy something to snack on while you're waiting.

Nowhere else in the world had Roger Moore post offices so of course they had to close them.

The idea these days is to make every experience as miserable as possible. Then complain you've got no customers because of Thatcher/Boris/Trump/Brexit/Ukraine/Free Market Economics/Jimmy Savile (you may perm any three).
    Current Lash Up:

The latest fad is to make it clear they are doing you a favour by selling you something. Only the customer is expected to say 'Thank You.'

Although there are exceptions still, the staff in the cafe where I get lunch are pretty good for being normal and friendly.

I wasn't expecting to sit through the whole video, but it was so fascinating. That bloke has some serious skills. The end product is a thing of beauty, not sure what it does though!

Maybe the producers of the next Jumanji film will make use of it

He could be making unavailable parts for obsolete hi-fi equipment, but no..

On the other hand without people like him people like me would still be living in the trees.
