Data steals a shuttlecraft and goes to join his brother.

So many things about this show bug me. I mean practically every other episode, someone - a rogue crewman, a visitor or even on occasion a prisoner - nicks a shuttlecraft and does one. However despite this being practically a daily occurrence, no safeguards are ever put in place. Just have the shuttle bay doors only able to be opened from the bridge. Really not hard.

We're in season six and people are still doing it with ease.

They often try to get them back with the tractor beam, but of course the escapee has always taken the precaution of disabling it. And there's no warning, the computer does not say 'Alert! Tractor beam has been disabled' or anything. You'd think at least a light would flash somewhere.

But no, they only ever find out it's not working when they come to use it.

"Star Trek The Next Generation" is probably aimed at the last generation. You are really too sophisticated for it.

During Operation Market-Garden, the Allied invasion of Holland in September 1944 (fourteen months after Operation Mincemeat and the invasion of Sicily), a British staff officer brought a complete Corps-level operations order with maps and graphics, which was never supposed to leave Britain, with him on a transport glider and then inadvertently left it on the glider when it landed in Holland. The Germans eventually overran the glider landing zone and found the operations order. But due to Operation Mincemeat, they were so convinced that this was another set of fake documents planted for deception by the British, and actually maneuvered contrary to what the documents indicated for the first few days of the battle. This was included in A Bridge Too Far (1977), about Operation Market-Garden.

The film is based on the 1959 short story "—All You Zombies—" by Robert A. Heinlein. At one point in an internal monologue in the film, the narrator quotes the story title. On 14 May 2012, the Spierig brothers—who had already written a screenplay—were announced as the directors of Predestination. Peter Spierig explained in August 2014 that they remained close to Heinlein's 1959 short story. They did not try to take apart the logic of the more than 50-year-old narrative: "... so we [Spierig brothers] worked on the [premise] that if there was a way to pick apart the logic, over that time it would have been done by now. We kind of say, 'let's trust the short story and trust that logic', so we stuck very closely to it."

There seems to have been a glut of time travel/historical adjustment films of late. Interesting that many of them are based on short stories, and that most of them play fast and loose with logical inconsistencies of such temporal interference.

yes its pretty good as a film. ive not really read the story so cant say if it is similar tho.

Original work print of the movie was 135 minutes long. When it was test-screened to an audience, they almost started a riot after watching this version. This was the only time that the full uncut version was shown, and it caused the studio to decide that it was unreleasable unless massive cuts were made to the film's violent scenes. Some of these cut and never included in any official version scenes include shots of Indian women's breasts being sliced off and thrown around; children's limbs graphically severed (real amputees were employed for these shots); a little girl's legs cut off by wagon wheels; a soldier gleefully cutting an Indian's arms off before shooting another Cheyenne in the eye; the fate of Spotted Wolf, who is beheaded and his head is hoisted as a trophy by a soldier before he tosses it to another soldier, who then throws it off camera. Spotted Wolf's head attached to the stirrup of a cavalryman was not cut and is shown in the release print, and there are stills showing his mutilated body lying on the ground without the head and four cavalrymen running around with his severed head in their hands, howling and laughing while blood is spurting from the neck stump.
