I’m All Right Jack opened at the Leicester Square Theatre in London on 13 August 1959.

The film was a big hit, being the most popular film in Britain for the year ended 31 October 1959. It was reportedly the second most profitable British movie that year after Carry On Nurse and helped British Lion enter profitability for the year after two years of losses. As well as Sellers' BAFTA, it also won the BAFTA Award for Best British Screenplay.

Bosley Crowther in The New York Times called it "the brightest, liveliest comedy seen this year."

Despite the lack of any factual evidence, the story has become an urban legend, and favorite of conspiracy theorists, who point to the lack of evidence as proof that it's being covered up.

I've had the book for many years, it's a very interesting read. Supposedly Einstein was involved or at least visited the project.

If it did exist it would have been absolutely top secret so any evidence would be scant. The book concludes that there was an experiment, although it could have just been an experimental degaussing method being tested. There's no evidence beyond a couple of eye witness testimonies that the ship ever went invisible, teleported, or came into contact with an alien reality.

Although that would be cool if it were true.

there was a great book called
Thin Air by George E. Simpson

its been pulled now saly, so must have been a court case or summat. it was written in about '78. was a good novel based on the philadelphia experiment, but must have been a rip off even tho it came before the films. as its now not on my kindle or on audible any more....

Watched Branagh's version on TV last night - absolutely dreadful. Far too much deviation from the book; far too much CGI; unconvincing acting from actors who could have done a lot better, and too much emphasis on Poirot's wrestling with his consciousness.

All in all a complete mess - give me the version with Albert Finney everytime.
