Of course, I didn;t know he was doing first, like is he trying to cross in front of me to go into a shop or somewhere, but no, he just pushed into me.

You did the right thing, immediate retribution is the only answer. Getting the police involved is as ineffectual as just shrugging it off, and just puts you in the frame for prime suspect if you later decide to sort things yourself.

Long term you might consider moving away from Brighton, which seems to have no redeeming qualities.

Absolutely, when the aggression is that direct, you're justified in giving plenty back. Brighton & Hove is ok actually, just house prices are nuts, it rains all the time, and it's full of revolting drug addicts, actually, it's a cesspit!

Today's mishaps.

Without realising, while painting part of the kitchen walls I knocked the scab off the bash I got on the head the other day and ended up leaving red blood 'dabs' on the ceiling!

Later, the steps shot out from under me and dumped me on the deck. Only fell about a metre and don't think I've done myself much damage apart from a slightly sore left hip and shoulder. The paint brush did a loop through the air over me and landed on the opposite worktop after bouncing off a dog food bag leaving a splodge of white emulsion .

I'm happy to assume that Mike knows the difference between someone accidentally stumbling into him and a deliberate push. And they're the worst kind of 'hippies' - Steppenwolf even did a song about them

The days of heroic injuries are well and truly behind us - gone are the days of emerging from a smashed car with a small cut on our cheek like James Bond, or getting our hair tousled in a fight like Roger Moore in The Saint, these days we can put our back out just doing a big fart.

Can't do that, it just goes totally against the grain (my grain? ). I like doing everything myself.

Yes I know what you mean, I'm a bit like that. But it's not that I want to do it, I just don't want to pay someone else. Though getting folk in to do what we can't or don't want to do, that's how most of us make a living.
