No tits on show, not allowed to have tits on album covers in our progressive liberal/fascist brave new world, but I do have the original vinyl gatefold with the proper cover.
On this side of the pond, it's the liberals who want to walk around with things flapping and dangling in your face... and want you to like it. But, yes... someone beat me to it. Hendrix was not fond of that cover. I can't blame him. Though said label executives were not the first to play the game of "just put a chick on the cover and it'll sell", whatever they were going for, I do believe backfired.
Lyrics are the ramblings of man, sometimes inspired by The Creator, most often, not.
But music (melodies, harmonies, rhythms), that's God stuff.
    Always was. Always will be.

One of the biggest lies ever told was that only certain kinds of people should listen to certain kinds of music.

I read that the models were paid £5 to go topless, or £10 if they would go naked. One of the models in a later interview said: "Everyone looked great, but the picture makes us look old and tired. We were trying to look sexy, but it didn't work out. It makes us look like a load of old tarts. It's rotten".

I have to agree, they look like "readers' wives". I'd happily swap my original double album for the later separate single albums in a shot. On my shoulder I have a tattoo of Jimi Hendrix... it's not very good, Jimi looks more like newsreader Trevor McDonald, but even that would make better and more relevant album art.
I just dropped in, to see what condition my condition was in

I was going to say I thought they all looked a bit rough. According to wikipedia Hendrix didn't like it but 'Dug' it anyway.

He thought the cover for 'Axis' was disrespectful so didn't like that one either.

Funny how one of the most creative geniuses that ever lived didn't get to choose his album covers.

Hmm, there's an idea for a thread. Best and worst album covers.

I never liked the cover for 'Axis', thought it was horribly 'kitsch', but regard it as his best LP.
