So in total, if I'm correct you have 2mv of gain with the Croft ( I could be wrong) and then 6.2mV with the M55e, 8.2mV output in total . So, the SC35C, M91/2+ the croft would pump out 7mV and the high ranking V15 around 6mV. The Shure later model V15's go for silly money and then you've got to buy the JICO, you'd be looking at £700 ish, and that's on a cartridge which is probably kicking around 40 years old. The SC35C is cheaper buy a few hundred quid and would I think give pretty much the same performance but slightly brighter in soundstage performance due to the extra output.

I wouldn't consider the V15 because of the high price so SC35C looks a better option and as you say Andy probably give similar performance with Jico SAS?

The SC35C does come with some quirks. Some people believe that USA made SC35C's are better than Mexican versions, I've a Mexican version and it sounds very very good. Some people add one of these https://paradoxpulse.com/universal-cartridge-body I own one and the modification is a simple five minute job. I also have a Panzerholz cartridge body on order which I have yet to evaluate. The SC35C is still in production (I think) so you'll get something that is new and can be quite easily sold on if you don't like it.

The difference compared with the SC35 is less than 2dB.
Just turn the volume down a little.

These Shure carts can seem to have a bright presentation, I've had my moments with the M55e/JICO combo where I thought I saw blood coming from my ears on high treble based passages on some heavy metal based vinyl that had been recorded hot. I think there is more to turning down the volume with these Shure carts. Perhaps some of the higher output carts could do with damping elsewhere in an individuals system to tame them a little? Just thinking aloud and I'm probably speaking a load of cobblers.

The M55e NOS is a great cartridge but replacement Jico standard stylus I felt was better. (Not talking about the SAS Jico here).
