Shirley MacLaine gets top billing in the credits (both opening and closing). This was the last time Clint Eastwood received second billing - or anything less than first - until A Perfect World (1993), and the only time his leading lady was played by an A-list star until The Bridges of Madison County (1995).

Shirley MacLaine did not get along during the shoot with anyone; especially Segal and Eastwood. It's rather conspicuous that in her many volumes of memoirs, Shirley MacLaine says virtually nothing about co-starring with Clint Eastwood. When Shirley discussed her career in a two-part interview on The Oprah Winfrey Show (1986) in 2011, Clint's name did not come up once.

The release of this film in 1970 marked the first occasion in 22 years that blacklisted screenwriter Albert Maltz had been given screen credit under his own name.

The N.S.A. refused to cooperate with the production. Aerial footage of their headquarters in Fort Meade, Maryland had to be shot from public air space.

The picture of a younger Gene Hackman shown in a white shirt and tie, supposedly from his N.S.A. file, was taken from The Conversation (1974). Hackman's character Edward "Brill" Lyle, closely resembles his "Conversation" character, Harry Caul. In The Conversation (1974), Harry Caul, like Brill, is a paranoid surveillance expert who has his workplace in an industrial warehouse. Also, Brill wears the same translucent raincoat worn by Harry Caul in the previous movie. In the movie Harry Caul (like Robert Clayton Dean in this movie) is pressured to hand over a tape that has evidence of a murder conspiracy. At the end of The Conversation (1974), Caul demolishes his apartment when he thinks people who have been observing him might be coming for him. It's been suggested by more than one movie critic that Brill could actually be an older Harry Caul, living under a pseudonym.

The climax was filmed at Beachy Head, a notorious suicide spot. A woman tried to kill herself by driving her car off the cliff on the night of filming.

Phil Davis (Frank Spicer) previously played the mod Chalky in Quadrophenia (1979), which was likewise set in Brighton in 1964.

I I don't want to run it down too far as it has some decent bits, especially when Helen Mirren, John Hurt and Phil Davis were on screen but the 2 leads, Sam Riley and Andrea Riseborough both fail alas, although much of that is the screenplays' fault. Obviously its difficult making 2010 Brighton look like when its set, but at times it wasnt even tried. Nonso Anozie did best he could with a poor part too. He is a good actor usually.

Many long nights were spent filming the siege scenes. Loudspeakers were installed around the battlefield and fort so directions could easily be given to the hundreds of cast and crew. One night after many long hours, Mann shouted over the speakers, "What's that orange light? Turn out that orange light!" After a pause, another voice came over the speakers saying, "That's the SUN, Michael."

Daniel Day-Lewis is well known for going to extremes in preparation for his roles. For this film he lived in the wilderness where his character might have lived, hunting and fishing and living off the land for several months prior to shooting.

By most accounts, each scene took at least 20 takes. Concerned about the growing cost, 20th Century Fox sent a representative to the set who did nothing but stand behind Michael Mann and say, "That's enough Michael, move on." lol

The shoot employed more than 900 Native Americans from all over the United States, mostly from the Cherokee tribes.

Daniel Day-Lewis' commitment to his role and the strenuous shooting schedule took a toll on his health. He was treated for claustrophobia and "mild hallucinations" after this movie wrapped.

The Bourne Supremacy, 2004..




To give this movie its gritty, documentary-style appearance, director Paul Greengrass used mostly handheld cameras, and a muted color palette. Greengrass also made sure to avoid computer graphics at all costs, and all of the stunts shown in the movie were achieved practically.

Unlike the James Bond franchise, all the devices that Bourne uses are real and can be purchased by the average citizen.

In the house in Munich, when Jason Bourne uses the rolled newspaper as a weapon, the martial art he performs is derived from Escrima, an old Philippine martial art, also called Arnis or Kali. This fighting style mainly uses sticks to fight, and in modern times the use of everyday objects is taught, including ball pens (as seen in The Bourne Identity (2002) and rolled up newspapers. In the film it is combined with Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do. The fighting syle of Jeet Kun Do was also shown in the film, Rapid Fire (1992) with late actor, Brandon Lee. Jeff Imada, served as a stunt coordinator for both projects.

Key Largo, 1948..




The script was adapted from a 1939 play of the same name by Maxwell Anderson. In the play, the gangsters are Mexican bandidos, the war in question is the Spanish Civil War, and McCloud is a disgraced deserter who dies at the end.
Robinson had top billing over Bogart in their four previous films together: Bullets or Ballots (1936), Kid Galahad (1937), The Amazing Dr. Clitterhouse (1938) and Brother Orchid (1940), but the situation switched for the billing in this final film in which Bogart and Robinson worked together. In at least one trailer for the film, however, Robinson is billed above Bogart in a list of the actors' names at the end of the preview, and photographs exist of Robinson being billed above Bogart on some theatre marquees. In the film itself and in posters, Robinson's name is between Bogart's and Bacall's but slightly higher than the other two. In some posters, Robinson's picture is substantially larger than Bogart's, and in the foreground manhandling Bacall while Bogart is in the background.
The film was shot primarily at the Warner Bros. Studios, Burbank, in order to keep costs down. The beach and hotel exterior were constructed on the Warner Bros. backlot; the interior scenes were filmed on a sound stage; and the boat scenes were filmed in Sound Stage 21, a huge indoor water tank. Exterior shots of the hurricane were taken from stock footage used in Night Unto Night, a Ronald Reagan melodrama which Warner Bros. also produced in 1948. Filming took 78 days.

The boat used by Rocco's gang to depart Key Largo, with Bogart's character at the helm, is named the Santana, which was also the name of Bogart's personal 55-foot (17 m) sailing yacht.

Murder, My Sweet, 1944..

directed by Edward Dmytryk and starring Dick Powell, Claire Trevor and Anne Shirley (in her final film before retirement). The film is based on Raymond Chandler's 1940 novel Farewell, My Lovely. It was the first film to feature Chandler's primary character, the hard-boiled private detective Philip Marlowe. Murder, My Sweet is, along with Double Indemnity (released five months prior), one of the first films noir, and a key influence in the development of the genre.
