Nobody has said how deep the submersible may have been at the time of lost contact, I reckon it was still going down when it collapsed. No info either on the time between lost contact and the 'pop' detected, I'll bet they were simultaneous.

3000 metres when they lost contact I think so three quarters of the way down. Supposedly last signal was that they were aborting and coming back up.

It's all over for now apparently, Prigozhin turns away from Moscow. Who knows what the next few weeks hold, I suspect Ukraine will take the advantage. Let's hope Putin doesn't do anything rash, like blow up that nuclear power station, which they have apparently pre-rigged.

If Russia had made their M6 into a smart motorway like our M6, there would be no need to dig trenches - the contraflows and 50mph limits enforced by average speed cameras would be enough to slow the Wagner advance.

If the Russians also switched off the hard shoulders they could have taken out any Wagner rebels that broke down or needed a rest.

See this is the kind of thinking that puts the Great in Great Britain... also if the Russian defence troops turned up in AA vans they'd have the element of surprise

That seems a likely explanation - why else would you waste all that diesel at today's prices, only to sack it off halfway through the journey... I suppose he got plenty of points on his nectar card though.

When did the Russians copy our motorway names anyway? It's the first I've heard of it.

Did they copy the service station names as well? Be interesting to know if there's a Knutsford Moto half way between Rostov and Moscow.

Maybe the did not copy service station names but before "the special military operation" there used to be plenty of Starbucks and a few Costa Coffee.

Yeah a lot of our motorways do seem to be in a constant state of roadworks. I am waiting now for the next phase which will be to reverse all the "smart" motorways.
