I've never been to Glastonbury either, but used to watch it on TV. I stopped watching the coverage several years ago, but intend to watch some of it again this year.

We had a good run of Glastonbury's in the first half of the 90s, despite the human excrement and tent thieves, but after Oasis got big it all went a bit mental. Huge capacity, ever-increasing ticket prices, and a real commercial vibe to it all.
Anyone who has never been and is just watching it on telly may be blissfully ignorant of the reality, which is down there under the crowd's feet (don't even think about sitting down), and the thousands-strong push across the fields, with the five bar gate-wide bottlenecks when everybody leaves to go to another stage. It was chaos then and I don't imagine it's got any better.
Attending one now would probably end me, though if I could just watch it from the comfort of a straw bale with Lauren Laverne, maybe...

Funny you should mention that. I dug out a set of vintage handcuffs yesterday during a rummage, must be a hundred years or more old. Had 'em since I was a kid. Unfortunately, they don't fit missus.
