We only visited the place for one day, to drive around a scenic Dalmatian 'fjord' on the way Kotor. Montenegro is not in the EU, put does accept Euros, and a sufficient number of people there speak English. This is our first time out of the country since before Covid. Can't believe how much prices have gone up.
I've fancied trying Croatia for some time, looks great. But we're planning a big holiday later this year, so wanted something low cost in the meantime. And Croatia is quite a bit more expensive than Bulgaria. Maybe next year.
Never considered Montenegro (Black Mountains?) as a holiday destination - how was it?
Montenegro is clearly poorer than Croatia (and Bosnia Hertzegovina, which we also visited at a later time), but the roads are good (and the signage bigraphic; English and Cyrillic). Curiously there is no exit stamp in my passport, so as far as the Montenegrans are concerned, I'm still there!

I did see something about Montenegro on TV a couple of years ago, the scenery was indeed beautiful. I do admire central/east Europeans, they have a tough life, but they get off their arses and deal with it. Generally speaking of course.
