Yeah that was a fun weekend. Spent every penny I had in the bank but I'd just started a new job and the future was bright. Until I went back in to work the next week and they said we're closing the company down so you might as well just go home now.

yeah wasn't as bad as Liverpool in the 1980s - I was there! Army, Navy, YTS - they were your options. No RAF of course, they don't want scousers in the air force.

When you see a squaddie interviewed on the telly he's almost always a Liverpudlian but you never see a scouse pilot. Funny dat.

As it was took a temp job two weeks switchboard operator, while I was there the bird responsible for all the corporate contracts won the lottery and quit, so they gave me her job. Which was a good job on good money. It goes around and comes around I suppose.

It certainly does. And after a career of changing fortunes it's all worked out in the end eh. But the RAF's snootiness doesn't just apply to scousers - if you can't sound like Biggles you're not getting in.

I had a friend (best man at my wedding) who was navigator/co pilot in RAF, flying Wessex choppers in NI and Falklands - he was as Lancashire as they come, but on a couple of occasions he had RAF buddies over, and when speaking to them his voice was barely recognisable, an accent I can only describe as 'clipped'.

Strange lot, RAF - I believe you could be clean shaven or have a neat 'tash, but no beards. Yosser could have got in, with that moustache, he just needed to learn to say "Excuse me, would you be so kind as to help me further my career".

It's taken a few years, but we've finally filled our whisky bottle with coins. Just taken them to the bank, where you just tip them into a hole and the machine counts them. So much easier than sorting them into little bags beforehand (which is what we did)

£250.24 we got, which was rather less than I was expecting. There was a larger than predicted amount of copper in with it. Probably due to Anita's thieving little scrote ankle biter helping himself to 50p coins like it was his own personal cash point.

Still, it bought us a new iron, and the rest can go on holiday beer

The bottle held approx 16kg of coins, which if they'd been £1 coins would have come to about £2k.

I've got a full whisky canister and started on a second one last year, but it's only coppers.

Not sure who can afford to chuck silver in them, Rockefeller maybe.
