I have a pair of Magneplanar MG1s of that vintage. They would go very well with the Pioneer I would think. They're easy to drive as they are pretty much a purely resistive 5 ohm load. I have no idea where the stands are though, but if I can cobble together a couple of pieces of wood as feet I'll see if I can get them in the car.
We can get all nostalgic over the good old days!
