My father had a couple of early digital watches he bought in the far east back in the late 1970s. I don't know what happened to them. Might see if they are still around.
One of them you had to press a button for it to display the time.

red display? i had one got in early 70's i guess. remember them at time being fairly rare but having to press a button was a pain. was as the display drew a lot of power so only stayed up for 6 secs or so

yes although technicially they were lcd displays.. the early ones used a lot of power. afaik hamilton made first ones ..kojak's one was an omega
