Days of Heaven, 1978..
The shot of locusts ascending to the sky was shot in reverse with the helicopter crew throwing peanut shells down, and actors walking backwards.
In an interview conducted for the Criterion Collection DVD edition of the film in 2007, Richard Gere speaks of a shot in the film during the wheat fire where a "monstrous" antiquated tractor is driven through the flames. According to Gere, director Terrence Malick was the driver.
Terrence Malick was so exhausted after the experience of making and completing the film that he retreated to Paris with his girlfriend. It would be 20 years before he made another film.
Even though Richard Gere's first notable role was in Mr. Goodbar (1977), he actually made this first, but the film took two years to edit and wasn't released until 1978.

The only film there I'd want is Primal Fear, which I have on DVD. Well worth a watch, if only for the amazing acting from Edward Norton.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

he was too pretty for this film imo... teeth way too perfect too. i like malick's attention to detail and 'madness' in most of his films especially aroung his earlier work.

The Guns of Navarone, 1961..
During shooting, Gregory Peck and David Niven became close friends, bonding initially over Peck's ability to consume vast quantities of brandy, which the actors used to "stay warm" while filming in a cold studio tank, without muffing a line. Their families visited each other frequently in later years, and Peck would deliver the eulogy at Niven's funeral.
Sir Anthony Quayle spent part of World War II in Albania organizing guerrilla forces. Like his character, Franklin, he was a Major.
Although Navarone is a fictional place, the novel of the same title is based on The Battle of Leros, in the Dodecanese, the location of the deepest port in the region and of coastal battery which defended it.
Some members of the Greek royal family and their entourage were extras in the café scene, as they were visiting the set on the day that scene was being filmed.
