How would a very well received SS phono stage sound and how would it compare against an all valve phono stage? Also bear in mind this phono stage measures incredibly well with a very low noise floor of -151 dBv. It also has a super accurate RIAA EQ tolerance level (+/- 0.15 db). So I will be comparing a phono stage that probably measures way better than my Croft phono stage on almost every parameter, but does it sound as good!
The numbers published by iFi are "inflated" . To see how this phono preamp performs in neutral testing, the results are much different from advertised. You can look at them here https://www.audiosciencereview.com/f...o-stage.35240/

You will make your own decision on sound, but i wanted to say "hey, this isn't how it is" and ask not to decide in concrete for all SS devices based on this one preamp.

I own a Shigaraka. It was famous in Asia for the shortest signal route of any phono preamp.

RIAA is pretty much perfect suspect that's mostly why it's a good sounding phono stage. That and noise level I think are the big discriminators between stages, not distortion, or valves/solid state.
    Current Lash Up:

    TEAC VRDS 701T > Sony TAE1000ESD > Krell KSA50S > Troels Gravesen Faital 3WC-15.

Now that’s a thought, but I think my other half would not see the funny side of that[emoji23]

Listening is the act of aural discrimination and dissemination of sound, and accepting you get it wrong sometimes.
