There's a lot to be said for a 2nd or 3rd or 4th system (more if you can swing it!) . If you get the speakers of your choice, what will you be using as a source?

£65 - what can you get for that these days? I could possibly have got it cheaper (it was an ebay Buy It Now, but was sitting at £20 start, with no bids, with 2 days to go - so who knows?) They seem to be rarely on ebay etc., I don't think it was particularly special in the range of the time (1977) - overshadowed by the V-Fet Sonys around the same era - but I've not seen anything similar that cheap. Part of the reason I think is that the advertiser got the model name wrong in the advert, so no one would pick it up doing a search...

And on the subject of "cock up your ebay ad" - I decided to walk away from this last night, though I'm still almost kicking myself - but there's just something not quite right, look at the category he listed it under! (Listed in category: Musical Instruments > Guitars > Accessories > Tuners) - the secret to finding the bargains on ebay is this sort of wrong listing, but I thought if he doesn't even know what he is selling I don't want to be risking too much money...

So yes, a vintage tuner is on the cards, but not wanting to spend a fortune - any suggestions?

Don't want to spend masses on any component just want a nice retro looking setup that I can play with as a 3rd system, probably feeding into the garden, maybe even living in the summerhouse during the warm months. Oh, and might even be for my daughter, but am now thinking it might be too good to risk being coloured in or playdoh'd...

I was watching an Aiwa AT-9700 tuner with its matching amplifier a few months back, wondering by how much I would have not been able to afford the final price.

Final sale price? - £42 for the pair.

The condition of those two were pretty ropey with, what looked like rust everywhere on them.

They haven't been selling for much recently, highest was.... if I remember right about £72 a month or so ago.

Not a bad tuner at all and for £16. I have a Marantz 125 Tuner looks similar to yours but with two vu meters stacked above each other. To be honest though its not a particularly good Marantz and does not have much of a rating on Tuner Info.net. so £16 is fair enough they reckon up to $50.

I once got a nice Akai 580 for £25. It was listed in the reel to reel section. I see Hayden Boardman is trying to get £100 for one. He was trying with £120. I don't think he has any chance of getting those prices, £50 perhaps but not much more imho of course.
