Another Carpenter film now...Starman, 1984... Jeff Bridges and the lovely Karen Allen star.
The only John Carpenter film to have an Academy Award nomination (Jeff Bridges, Best Actor).
According to John Carpenter in the audio commentary on Big Trouble in Little China (1986), the main reason he directed Starman (1984) was due to the box-office disaster of The Thing (1982); he needed to make a movie that was tonally the complete opposite of 'The Thing' to ensure his employability in Hollywood.

Ralph Bellamy (Randolph) and Don Ameche (Mortimer) make cameo appearances in Coming to America (1988) as the same characters; the two are now homeless, and Prince Akeem (Eddie Murphy) gives them a large amount of money to get them back off the streets.
This was Ralph Bellamy's ninety-ninth film, and Don Ameche's forty-ninth. This was Eddie Murphy's second film, and he joked: "Between the three of us, we've made one hundred fifty movies!"

It's not the best of films, but I enjoyed it, which I don't normally do with the films of John Carpenter.christine, the killer car

However if you want a very good film about a road vehicle with a "bad attitude", then I can thoroughly recommend 'Duel' by Steven Spielberg.

The story of Operation Mincemeat was previously told in the film The Man Who Never Was (1956) based on the 1953 book of the same name by Ewen Montagu.
In reality, for Operation Mincemeat, the body of ''Michael'' had begun to decompose and was almost not used. The ruse was that the corpse hadn't been in the sea that long. The Royal Navy decided to go ahead regardless.
